All the way from the northern part of Western Australia and around to Queensland you can find some good Barramundi fishing. Here we will discuss some of the hot Barramundi fishing spots in the Northern Territory of Australia, including river estuaries in the Northern Territory and the Gulf of Carpentaria.

With the best Barramundi fishing being in the Northern Territory (NT) of Australia, here is a detailed list of possibilities for you to check out. Most of the best Barramundi fishing is done in the runoff times of March to May.

Derby

Good fishing locations along the Fitzroy River that produce good Barramundi include Willare Bridge, Tumblegoodiron, Myroodah Crossing

Broome

There’s a turn off from the Cape Leveque Road which leads you to the Manari Road from which you can reach Barred Creek and Willie Creek, which are noted Barramundi fishing spots. Also, Middle Lagoon and Hunter Creek at Kooljaman Resort/Cape Leveque can be found further along Cape Leveque Road and are worth checking out.

Darwin

North of Darwin is the Tiwi Islands which have a large river system and are very good for Barramundi.

Top End

East Alligator River, South Alligator River, Mary River, Shady Camp, and the Daly River are all fantastic runoff Barramundi fishing locations which can produce some fantastic Barramundi fishing during runoff times and can produce trophy fish of over 50 pounds.

Cobourg Peninsula

This is because there are a lot of fish and not a lot of people, so the ideal locations are not over-fished. It offers both great fly fishing and standard fishing tackle opportunities. This area is full of many species for good fishing, and the the Barramundi fishing excels in March through May.

Melville Island

Good place to go during April through May and October and November. The rivers and estuaries in the Melville Islands make the fishing good because they are a bit hard to get to, so they are not overfished. There are also a lot of other species there so you’re sure to catch a least something. A chartered tour is your best be here.

Darwin To Cape Ford

Along the western coast of the Northern Territory lies an area is that has few inhabitants, very limited access to the coast, and thus less anglers competingyou’re your trophy Barramundi. This makes for some excellent fishing.
